A new year—2025. In the Catholic faith, this is to be a year of Jubilee. The theme for the 2025 Jubilee year is “Pilgrims of Hope” —a year of forgiveness, reconciliation, and hope. It is a rite seen only once every 25 years. I’m still pondering and praying about what my word of the year…

This month I am borrowing from Joyce Rupp’s December newsletter: Henri Nouwen asked his readers a vital question: “Is there a quiet stream underneath the fluctuating affirmations and rejections of my little world? Is there a still point where my life is anchored and from which I can reach out with hope and courage and…

This month I’m re-posting a piece I wrote in November, 2022. It’s a reminder to embrace God’s will and grow in love. I need this reminder and I thought you might too. Fall has come upon us. A carpet of leaves covers the ground in my backyard. The sun casts new shadows. There is a…

“We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us.” 1 John 4:16 If asked what topics are most dear to me, high on my list would be anything to do with matters of the heart and prayer. My husband and I just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary, and I…

This past month I was encouraged to reflect on a basic tenet of my faith—that God is love, and to pray and ponder how I have interpreted God’s love for me throughout my life. My felt experience of God’s love, if you will. I see this as a worthy endeavor, one we all might benefit…

We’ve just celebrated the greatest miracle of the Christian faith—Christ’s Resurrection. Christ began his earthly ministry with a miracle—changing water into wine at a wedding feast —and ended his time here on earth with an even greater miracle. So, as Christians, we do believe in miracles. We allow mystery to seep into our everyday living.…
