MEDITATING ON HOLY SCRIPTURE…Taking God’s word deep into your heart.

This month I’d like to share with you a prayer theme I have been praying, and encourage you to join me if you feel led. I pray with the same passage daily for a week and then move on to the next passage.

Prayer Theme: God Provides for Me
Grace to Pray For: A Deeper Trust in the Father’s Care for Me

Week One—Luke 11:1-11—Lord, teach us to pray.
Week Two: Isaiah 43:1-7—You are precious in my eyes;
Week Three: Luke 12:22-32—Why are you anxious?
Week Four: John 14:1-7—Let not your hearts be troubled.
Week Five: Psalm 62—Hope in God alone.
Week Six: Philippians 4:4-13—Have no anxiety about anything.

I start by letting God still me—settle my heart and soul. I encourage you to sit quietly with each passage, read through it a few times, and share a conversation with God. Pay attention to what strikes you in God’s words. What is comforting and what may be unsettling. Share with God how you see yourself, and then listen to God tell you how He sees you. Share with God how you see Him, and then listen to God tell you how He really is.

This heart-to-heart conversation with God can also show you wounds that still need healing, and your heart’s longings that God wants to fulfill in His perfect way. You will want to enter into this heart-to-heart prayer with Jesus, always with Jesus, and never without Jesus.

There are many good works written about prayer and meditation. I simple want to encourage you to practice prayer and meditation, and let God be your Divine teacher.

Blessings on your journey. I’m praying for you all. Please pray for me.

    Cherry, thank you for sharing. I think prayer and meditation can sometimes feel daunting and hard to always knowing where to start. Thank you for providing some specific ways that we can pray/listen with scripture. And some specific questions we can pay attention to. -Jenna
